Where We Serve
Ministry Areas
Gospel “Eco-System”
It’s not enough for just one ministry to make a difference. We want to focus on the entire Christian “ecosystem” rather than working separately.
There are 8 crucial areas that we want to serve which require the transformative work of the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER MOVEMENTS
Throughout history, spiritual renewal has always been preceded by prayer. It often started with a small group of faithful people who earnestly called upon God to pour out His Spirit to revive the church, and reach Jesus.
We long for God to turn the hearts of His people back to Him so that we can live out the mission Jesus has given us.
Joy Dawson, a respected leader in Youth With A Mission (YWAM), once said, “Anything that is not born in prayer is born in pride.” Prayer is not merely a means to an end; it is the foundation of God’s work in Canada.
Working collectively with Canadian prayer movements is essential for collective gospel impact in Canada. Prayer is the foundation and guidance for all we do as 787 Collective.
DISCIPLESHIP AND SPIRITUAL FORMATION (YOUTH/YOUNG ADULTS)
Our goal is to inspire and support leaders, communities, and initiatives that effectively guide and shape upcoming generations in embracing the teachings and way of Jesus.
At the core of our focus is the desire to witness Canadian youth develop a vibrant relationship with Jesus, becoming His disciples and leading their peers to do the same.
We understand the importance of equipping and involving parents as spiritual leaders within their homes, as well as fostering communities that provide support to families and youth in their spiritual growth. Research indicates that mentorship plays a significant role in the spiritual development of young individuals, and we aim to encourage and strengthen this aspect.
While spiritual formation often takes place within church communities, we also strive to provide resources and support for initiatives that reach out to youth who may not have connections to faith communities.
Growing Spiritual Leaders
The church and the world are in great need of effective, godly leadership. We are passionate about promoting innovative approaches to identify and empower Christian leaders in Canada. Our efforts in leadership development will encompass various initiatives such as creating new networks for leaders, improving development models, enhancing training platforms for pastors, theologians, and those in higher education. We also seek to support minority leaders, women leaders, those who serve in multiple vocations, as well as missional entrepreneurs. We are open to exploring even more avenues to cultivate effective leadership. Today’s context requires creative thinking to develop the leaders needed for 21st-century contexts.
Church Renewal
We have an exciting opportunity to inspire collaborative initiatives that foster renewal in churches. Our vision is to see churches experience spiritual renewal that embodies the beauty and wonder of the gospel. This renewal is evident through their commitment to making obedient disciples, engaging in fervent prayer, living generously, and pursuing Jesus’ mission.
Renewed churches are led by leaders who themselves have experienced personal renewal. In order to truly embrace the abundant life and fruitful journey promised by Jesus, we need to go beyond holding the right beliefs (orthodoxy) and actively practice the right behaviors (orthopraxy).
By faithfully following Jesus’ teachings and joining His mission, guided by the Holy Spirit, we open ourselves to a transformative renewal experience. This allows us to fully embrace the abundant life that Jesus offers and participate in His fruitful work.
Church Planting
Since 1927, the growth of churches in Canada has not kept up with the population growth. To connect with Canadians who may have lost faith in institutionalized religion, church planting initiatives need to embrace innovative approaches. These approaches should showcase the transformative power of a life lived with Jesus and demonstrate the truth of the gospel.
We are passionate about inspiring church-planting entrepreneurs who are guided by the Holy Spirit. They will explore fresh methods of establishing communities rooted in God’s kingdom. These communities will reach out to those who are unfamiliar with Jesus and focus on nurturing disciples who actively make more disciples. Our aim is to encourage and support church planting movements and networks to create vibrant kingdom communities that bring the message of Jesus to those who have yet to encounter Him.
Missional Initiatives
Our goal is to inspire and support innovative initiatives that effectively communicate the message of Jesus in ways that resonate with our present cultural context. We recognize the importance of adapting to our changing society and reaching people through non-traditional methods. This may involve initiatives that emphasize traditional or cultural apologetics, utilize new media platforms, foster small group communities, explore digital evangelism, and intentionally reach out to “unreached” or niche people groups. We believe that by embracing creativity and engaging with diverse approaches, we can effectively share the Gospel and connect with individuals who may have previously been unreached or disconnected from traditional forms of outreach.
Marketplace Leader Mobilization
Our objective is to inspire and support Christian leaders in the marketplace who are committed to following the guidance of the Holy Spirit in making investments that align with God’s Kingdom and contribute to His transformative work in Canada. In addition to pooling together financial resources for the Kingdom, we also aim to actively involve and utilize the talents and abilities of marketplace leaders. Our approach is rooted in the belief that when these leaders come together, guided by Ephesians 4:11-16, their collective efforts will lead to significant and lasting societal transformation.
By fostering strategic collaboration among all the leaders that God has entrusted to the Church, we believe we will see God increasingly transform lives and communities through his people.
Mercy and Justice
Throughout history, God has called His people to bring justice to the world by showing care and compassion to those who are marginalized people, often referred to as the “widows and orphans” in scripture. In Isaiah 58, there is a vivid description of what it truly means for God’s people to actively participate in His work in the world. In our present cultural context, people pay closer attention to Christians’ actions rather than just our words, seeking evidence of our beliefs.
We are committed to seeking God’s heart to identify opportunities for collective impact. We aim to develop collective impact initiatives by engaging ministries that serve mercy and justice, reflecting God’s love and compassion towards others. We recognize the importance of demonstrating our faith through tangible acts of kindness and advocating for justice in the world around us. By aligning ourselves with God’s heart for mercy and justice, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need and contribute to the positive transformation of our society.
